Our Commitment to Accuracy
Universal News is committed to correcting errors promptly, prominently, and transparently. We believe that handling mistakes with integrity is as important to our credibility as getting things right in the first place.
When we make an error of fact, we correct it as soon as it is identified. Corrections are displayed prominently at the top of the relevant article, not buried at the bottom. We do not quietly edit articles without disclosure.
Types of Corrections
- Factual Correction: A specific fact in the article was incorrect and has been corrected. The original error is noted.
- Update: New information has emerged that adds to or contextualises the original report.
- Clarification: The original text was ambiguous and has been rewritten for clarity.
- Retraction: In rare cases where a story cannot be supported, we retract it fully and explain why.
